Voyage Vigil Program
At St. Croix Hospice, we believe patients and their families deserve as much support as possible at the end of life. The St. Croix Hospice Voyage Vigil Program supports patients and families when they need us the most. When signs and symptoms indicate a patient is approaching their final days, St. Croix Hospice staff will initiate our Voyage Vigil Program to increase caregiver presence at the bedside.
Establishing the Vigil Process
If a patient’s clinical team observes a significant decline, they’ll speak with the patient’s family about initiating the Voyage Vigil Program. Once the program has begun, our compassionate care team supports the unique wishes of patients throughout their end-of-life progression.
The Voyage Vigil Program not only increases nursing presence at a patient’s bedside, but also the support of our hospice aides, chaplains and social workers. Our staff creates a peaceful environment by limiting noise and interruptions, dimming lights, and giving family members the opportunity to take a break or to be alone with their loved one.
Bereavement Support for Loved Ones
Following a patient’s death, we offer 13 months of grief and bereavement support services for families.
